Pokhara. Mukti Poudel of Fedipatan, Pokhara Metropolitan City-21 is stunned when a cow that was supposed to give birth at the end of November started giving milk six months ago. Poudel, who was convinced that the cow, which was traditionally bred on February 20, 2077 BS, would give birth in the coming October, was surprised to see milk falling from the cow's udder on the night of May 10.
The two-and-a-half-year-old mini-jersey calf has been giving milk at the rate of two liters each morning and evening since then. He said, “Milk never bursts. Now, the leftover milk is made into yogurt and the ghee is also good. ”
Dr. Madhu Timilsina Herman, a veterinarian, says that such rare incidents are due to the fact that milking cows is rare. The calves of advanced breeds of cows have started giving fresh milk in the first batch due to the increase in progesterone hormone, ”he said.
Poudel, who is also the former vice-chairman of Nirmalpokhari VDC, and his wife Sita, who were shocked when the cows started giving milk without calving, are ready to tell the neighbors about the cows. He was brought to the cowshed on December 3, 2008 by a person from the local Dalit community while he was looking for a calf. Poudel had even paid him Rs 1,000 for bringing a calf of a destitute cow.
Initially, the calf was found to have not received enough food and water, but after being brought to the cowshed, it was taken care of, said Sita. He said that the lean, weak calf, which could not even walk, had defecated like a goat's shoe in the beginning because it did not even drink water.
The locals are shocked to see that the calf born in the neighborhood has become a business after not getting love. Before that, the calf was forced to live under the open sky at Biruwa Field in Pokhara 17 for about 45 days. This has confirmed the fact that animals are multiplied if they are taken care of even if they are healthy, said local Pandit Krishna Prasad Poudel.
In our society where milk is more important than raising a calf, the weaned calf, which has reached the last stage of life and death, has to give milk six months before giving birth, which has created a situation where the society has to think seriously. "This is the first time in my 66-year-old life that I have never seen or heard of a calf giving milk without calving before. Today I have the opportunity to eat milk," he said.
Locals Ram Chandra Poudel, Bholanath Poudel, Shiva Poudel and others who came to Poudel's house to see the cow and her milk said that they were surprised to see the calf giving milk.
