Terai Madhes has been agitated many times. He also held the Center and the state accountable for his neglect. Many people lost their lives in this process, even though many stood in the line of martyrs.
But the Tarai's grievances are still alive. Many who still feel cheated and cheated due to discrimination have been complaining step by step that the issue of Madhes has not been addressed yet.
The seeds of the Madhes movement were sown after the Interim Constitution promulgated in Kathmandu on January 20, 2006, was burnt. Some people, including Upendra Yadav, chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, which was registered as an NGO in the movement, were arrested in Kathmandu.
Chakkajam, which started from Kanchanpur in Saptari on January 19 in protest of their arrest, was engulfed in the fire of the entire Madhes movement when it reached Lahan on January 19. This was the story of the beginning of the Madhes revolt.
Even after this, in two more phases, the Madhes had given up the jihad of two great movements. Within nine years, the Madhes launched three major movements. Consensus and agreement was reached with the state three times. But the complaint is still alive in Madhes, why?
The three-phase movement was linked to sacrifice in the Terai Madhes. But the grievances raised only by the leaders through sacrifice are now spreading in Madhes. After the first Madhes movement, the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, an NGO, emerged as a national party.
Its chairman Yadav has always been lucky in his power journey and party journey. The great achievement of the Madhes movement is the rise of more than half a dozen Madhes-centric parties and the rise of dozens of leaders.
After the recent changes in the country and the Madhes movement, the presence of Madhes-centric parties in national politics has not been missed. Attendance at the highest levels of policy making has also increased. In the course of addressing the same dissatisfaction of Madhes, this country got the first President of Madhes and also got the Vice President from Madhes.
Madhes-centric parties also visited Singha Durbar several times during their journey to power. But why the grievances of Madhes have not been eradicated yet? The issue of Madhes still hurts sometimes in the name of citizenship and sometimes in the name of discrimination in government facilities. But why
Every time Madhes-centric parties have been pushing the issue of Madhes before coming to power, i.e. before supporting the government of any party. The words "complete this and that issue and support or join the government after the Madhes issue is addressed" have been heard from Madhes-centric parties.
Is the drama of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), which is said to be united for Madhes, for Madhes, or for the pilgrimage to power? Now is the time for the Terai Madhes to search for accounts.
Shouldn't Mahanta Thakur, who is considered a sainted leader not only for Madhes but also for the country, have to answer something now? Will Upendra Yadav just look for opportunities or will he also do honest politics for Madhes?
