The snow leopard that went to eat goat is trapped in a goat cage. According to Bikas Baram, secretary of the Fu Himalayan goat Farmers' Group, 45 leopards were killed by the snow leopard on Tuesday night.


The herdsman, who reached goat barn at around 7 am on Wednesday, found the leopard eating goat inside the cage. At the same time, the snow leopard was trapped inside the cage after the herdsman closed the door of the cage. The villagers informed the District Administration Office, Manang, Annapurna Conservation Area, and Nepal Police. Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Lamichhane informed that Nepal Police and Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) personnel have reached the site to rescue the snow leopard. He said that although the snow leopard had reached the spot for rescue, no information has been received on how to rescue it due to bad weather.


The victims have demanded relief from the Annapurna Conservation Area Project. Chief of Annapurna Conservation Area Project Manang Lekhnath Gautam has expressed commitment to provide relief to the victims. Preparations have been made to take the snow leopard to the concerned body and it is said that the snow leopard is trapped inside the cage due to a lack of necessary materials for rescue.


The snow leopard is a large cat species of carnivore. It is found in the mountainous regions of South Asia and Central Asia. The snow leopard lives in a rocky mountain range between 3,000 and 5,500 meters above sea level. The exact number is not known due to their hiding nature. It is estimated that there are 3,500 to 7,000 snow leopards in the open forest area and 600 to 700 snow leopards in the world's zoos.
